Greenbush Bed and Breakfast
Greenbush Bed and Breakfast, with its three rooms, offers guests a tranquil environment of natural beauty.
The grandeur of spectacular southern coastal scenery, the magic of a two-acre garden paradise, and the opportunity to get to know a true working Southland farm –
a trio of experiences that make a stay at Greenbush unforgettable.
Steeped in family history, Greenbush property (a 1,000 acre sheep and cattle farm) is located on the Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail, 4km from Fortrose, in a part
of New Zealand renown for its natural rugged beauty. It’s the gateway to the Catlins – an ideal stop for visitors who are either setting out on the trail or at the end of their journey.
Guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary farm tour, including a visit to Lake Vincent, a natural lake on the property that is home to Canada geese, black swans
and paradise ducks. There is also access to a private beach. A game of golf is always available at the friendly local Fortrose golf club.
The beautifully sheltered homestead garden is truly unique and includes mature trees planted in the 1860s, as well as elms, Californian redwood, golden ash and
black beech.
Lovingly cared for, the garden is home to many treasures, including a kauri tree given as a wedding present to Donald’s mother in 1940. The tree is thought to be the oldest most southern growing kauri in the world.
Greenbush is managed and owned by fourth-generation New Zealanders, Ann and Donald McKenzie. Guest accommodation at Greenbush is
comfortable and private. It includes two rooms with private facilities. A hearty home-cooked dinner is available by arrangement.
Greenbush is less than 30 minutes drive by car from Curio Bay, Waipapa Point, Waipohatu and Slope Point – the South Island’s most southerly point.
It is 40 minutes from Invercargill.
Wake up to bird song, stroll a wild beach, tour the farm, relax in the garden. It’s all at Greenbush.
